BAD GIRLS OF THE GENESIS - A BIBLE STUDY
On Wednesday nights during the season of Epiphany, Rev. Fanny invites you to meet the “Bad Girls of the book of Genesis”, a study based on the book “Bad Girls of the Bible” by Barbara J. Essex.
At church, we often hear and learn and preach from the biblical accounts of the heroes and of the good guys, but what about the other stories, the ones filled with betrayal, jealousy, desire and deception? Aren't they also part of our own lives?
How a fresh look on these stories can lead us to a deeper understanding of the way God is present with us in the messiness of our humanity?
How can we learn to see the seek for recognition, love and hope behind the too easily blamable behaviors?
And how going beyond the stereotypes of what is culturally understood as “good” or “bad” can lead us to be more courageous, bold and independent on our spiritual journey?
Please come and discuss with us these fascinating questions!
We will meet from 7 to 8pm in the conference room (next to the office) as follows:
January 13 - The story of Eve
January 20 - The story of Rebekah
January 27 - The story of Tamar
February 3 - The story of Potiphar's wife
You don't need to purchase Essex's book to participate in the Bible study, but please let Rev. Fanny know by email if you are planning on attending so she can send you the preparatory readings from the Bible and warn you in case we have to re-schedule due to bad weather.
