Share of McLean

Special COVID-19 Share Fundraiser

Share is a multifaceted organization that helps meet emergency needs in our local community, especially for food. A coalition of local religious and civic institutions (including St. Dunstan’s) founded Share in 1969.

We support Share year-round. People can leave donations of non-perishable food and toiletries in baskets inside our church doors. Our main food-drive is called "Thanksgiving in July", and takes place (you guessed it) in July. We do this in the summer because most of Share’s food drives happen during the Holidays or when school is in session. The need is great year-round.

If you are a parishioner and would like to make a donation to Share via Paypal, please use this button and designate that your donation is for Share. Visit Share's website here.

Regional Outreach

Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington

Samaritan Ministry was created by 12 Episcopal Churches in 1986 in order to go beyond emergency assistance to those who are homeless (or in danger of becoming homeless). Every year they help more than 1,000 people through their Next Step program to identify, pursue, and fulfill goals. In the past, St. Dunstan's has hosted Mini-Walks to Help the Homeless to benefit Samaritan Ministry. Visit Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington's website here.

Global Outreach

Carpenter's Kids

The goal of Carpenter's Kids is to link churches in order to provide for the basic educational needs of the 50 most vulnerable children in a village in Tanzania. We were partnered with a village and church in Wilunze, Tanzania in 2013. We sent a mission team there in the summer of 2014 in order to build relationships with the people of Wilunze. Visit the Diocese of Virginia's website about Carpenter's Kids.

Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD)

ERD aims to 'heal a hurting world' by working with Church partners and other local organizations in order to save lives and transform communities. They work to rebuild after disasters, and empower people to create long-term solutions to problems like hunger, disease, and poverty. ERD is present in almost 40 countries and impacts the lives of about 3 million people. St. Dunstan's has done various fundraisers for ERD projects. Please visit their website in order to find out what their current projects are. Visit Episcopal Relief and Development's website here.
