Renovations: Almost Complete!

January 21, 2021

Dear St. Dunstan’s Parishioners and Friends:

I’m writing to update you on the status of the construction work in the parish hall and undercroft.  Most of the major work is now complete and Fairfax County has approved it for our use.  Still, there is some work remaining and that should be completed within the next few weeks.   Here are the highlights:

  • The undercroft bathrooms are complete and in use and they look great. Brooksfield began using them this week and their students have been accessing them via a temporary plastic-sheeting corridor while other work is being completed.
  • The “common room” is nearly complete and is awaiting a new glass interior window, expected next week.
  • The new pantry in the undercroft is nearly complete and is awaiting a new refrigerator and microwave.
  • The stairway from the sanctuary to the undercroft is still under construction. The major remaining item is installation of safety glass on the vertical stanchions, expected next week.
  • The new vesting rooms and choir office are complete and ready for use.
  • The new handicapped door is complete.
  • The renovated sanctuary vesting room and bathroom are complete and pending inspection.
  • The air conditioning duct work in the parish hall is complete, and the new nursery roof necessitated by the overall project is being installed January 21 and 22. The warmer weather has helped!  We look forward to testing the new air conditioning.

We will update you further on project status at the annual parish meeting on January 31.  Once all work is complete, we will hold a socially-distant open house to allow you to see the completed work and results of the Capital Campaign.  Watch for details in the future.

Regards,

Jon Spear
