Get your hands dirty!

St. Dunstan's parishioners are actively engaged in service to our community and participate in a number of outreach projects. Currently, St. Dunstan's is cooperating with the McLean Interfaith Coalition (thirteen faith congregations) building our second Habitat for Humanity house. Each Spring we join together to fix up a home for Christmas in April. Monthly we send groups to Martha's Table for food preparation. St. Dunstan's supports Samaritan Ministries by participating in the Help the Homeless Walk.

Our faith is expanded by our opportunities to work with others. St. Dunstan's has numerous chances to serve the world beyond our walls, while at the same time learning about ourselves and deepening faith. Here are a few examples of St. Dunstan's parishioners' activities beyond the parish:

Martha's Table
In addition, there are ongoing activities such as our monthly trip to Martha's Table, a soup kitchen in the District. The parish makes sandwiches for distribution and has raised money for Martha's Table through walks and Eat In/Eat Out. St. Dunstan's also has monthly visitation at the Arleigh Burke nursing center, and even has an annual carol sing-along in December.

Rebuilding Together
Christmas in April is a great way for people in the congregation to reach out, get dirty, and get to know each other through painting, raking, and repairing a neighbor's house. The project builds us up as stewards and our labor contributes enormously to the lives of our neighbors.

Habitat for Humanity
St. Dunstan's is a proud member of the McLean Interfaith Coalition, a group of faith organizations working together to build a Habitat for Humanity House. The cost of the project and the labor is shared, putting together work crews from various faith backgrounds. A new project is underway each year. Check the weekly bulletin, The Peal, for details.

We also have an active parish that supports Samaritan Ministry and the local SHARE Food Bank. Many of our congregation volunteer hours with local groups and would be happy to help you find a way to make a living contribution.
