EDUCATION FOR MINISTRY (EFM)
There is a program that was specifically created in order to give
lay people the theological and scriptural foundation that they need
in order to carry out their ministry: Education for Ministry (EfM).
The EfM program develops an informed and knowledgeable laity by
studying the Old and New Testaments, Church History, and Theology.
Just as lay or ordained ministry takes commitment, training for
that ministry takes commitment too. The EfM program requires both a
time and a financial commitment. Education for Ministry is a four-
year program; each "year" being a 9-month cycle of study.
Participants sign up for one cycle at a time, and meet typically
once a week for 2.5 - 3 hours. There is also a fee for this program
of $340 to help pay for the education materials. There is financial
assistance available, depending upon the size of our group. I would
love for this program to become available at St. Dunstan's because
it is a wonderful educational tool for lay ministry. I encourage
you to enter into prayer, to discern whether
God is calling you to participate in Education for Ministry.
There are two sign up sheets in the vestibule; one for people who
are ready to make a commitment and the other for those who are
still discerning. Please contact me or Nancy Searby with any
questions or if you are interested in EfM. The EfM website is:
